The Midlands tick takes you on a scenic journey on the outskirts of Nottingham and Leicester. This route has everything from long straights to tight twisty roads (what we like ). You also pass two old RAF bases (you will probably see the odd couple of gliders flying around / landing on the runways).

This is a great drive which covers all types of roads. The Snowdonia backdrop is second to nothing, and makes it a must do drive! There are nice twisty roads leading around the hills and lakes.

Black Mountain Pass (Top Gear) (A4069)

The Black Mountains can be found in the West side of the Breacon Beacons National Park. The Black Mountain road (A4069) has become very popular since it was featured on BBC’s Top Gear, with Jeremy Clarckson driving the AMG SLK along this route. This route has some of the best corners, and just looking at the route you can see what a route this is.

Black Mountain Pass - TomTom

Evo Triangle

The EVO Triangle’s name comes from the writers over at the EVO Magazine. This route is what the writers use to test drive the cars for magazine features. The route has become very popular among driving enthusiasts, and seems to be one of the most talked about routes in the UK. The route starts on the A543 (just off the A5) heading North along tight sweeping bends and great scenery. You will then turn right onto the B4501 which takes you on some nice long sweeping bends with views of the Llyn Brenig Lake. This road then leads back to the A5 (going through the village of Cerrigydrudion) and back to where you started.

Snake Pass – Peak District

Crossing the high hills of the Peak District, Snake Pass lays just on the Midlands border running between Sheffield and Manchester. The name Snake Pass (although it does match the winding roads) actually comes from the emblem of the Snake Inn, who’s building lays upon the Snake Pass. The road was first built as a toll road, as it was the most direct route between Manchester and Sheffield, but soon was taken over by the Woodheads Pass (easier and safer route). Snake Pass features tight bends, and steep hill climes / descents.

Ribblehead Run – Yorkshire Dales

This is a great road to drive. You’ll be passing the Ribblehead Train Station, with a great spot to take some shots of the Ribblehead train line viaduct. Great drive in all seasons. Snow on the top of the hills in the winter, lambs in the summer. Caution must be taken when driving this route in winter, ice, snow, and gales will be likely. Please check weather forecast before setting off.
