Just found this news article, and i thought it was worth posting it up on here, as it seems like a really good idea from Garmin:

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-31066_7-10390928-267.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=Crave

Basically, this new Garmin (model number unknown) will use a device (which they call the ESP device) which will plug into your cars OBD-II (diagnostics port) and will send your cars vital statistics to the Garmin (MPG, Speed, Revs....)

Another plus side is that this device can also read error codes that have been stored on the ECU... This should save you a lot of money taking your car to the main dealer to be plugged into their computer (at a hefty price)

There is no talk on how much this unit will cost yet, nor what maps this unit will have, but i can see this being a turning point in the TomTom & Garmin battle.
