I aws on a megabus from liverpool to london which took the a628 in heavy rain 1830 ??1850 16/07/2012 this route does not seem siutable for a large double deckedcoach fuul of people??
I used to drive a NatEx coach over this route every day, 351 Sheffield to Blackpool, and return, not a bad days work,if you forget about the passengers.
I live close to this road & regularly use it to commute – even at 6am, it’s snarled up with HGVs being followed by a queue of drivers too nervous to overtake. It used to be a fun drive – now it’s a procession of Iceland lorries & Rover 75s
